The Importance of Recognition

When is the last time you were recognized for something? That could be a simple thank you for a job well done, a call out at a meeting for a contribution to the team, or receiving an award for outstanding achievement. Recognition is an important motivator, and many professional associations recognize their industry contributors at awards functions. Recognition helps your members and volunteers see that the association values their contributions whether that be to the industry, the organization, or its people.

FWA had the privilege of sponsoring a recognition award at the March 7, 2024 MPI Toronto Awards Gala. FWA has several MPI Toronto members on our team. MPI Toronto is also a client and FWA has been sponsoring the New Member of the Year Award since 2015. The New Member of the Year is awarded to an individual who has been a supplier or planner member of MPI Toronto for a minimum of six months, but not more than two years, and who has demonstrated a keen dedication to the Chapter. It is an important award because it recognizes and celebrates the contributions of someone new to the organization - who has jumped in with both feet - and is making a positive contribution to the Chapter.

Associations rely on new members to bring fresh ideas, innovative thinking, diversity, and enthusiasm to the organization. If your organization does not have a recognition program, it may be something that you want to consider. The cost can be minimal and the benefits can be substantial.

Congratulations to the 2024 MPI Toronto Chapter New Member of the Year Holly Groeneveld.
