Giving Back as an Association Management Company (AMC).
Association Management companies are in a unique position to participate in corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities. CSR activities are important for associations as a means of giving back to the community. As a company we have our own CSR activities that we engage in, but we are also exposed to many additional CSR activity opportunities through our clients.
One CSR style activity our company has participated in contributed a pot of money to Kiva, an organization that provides micro loans for people around the world who need loans to support their small businesses but don’t have access to financial services. Each staff member was allocated a dollar amount that they could loan to people or groups they wanted to support. If your loans are paid back then you have more money to loan to different people. This was a great way to support people in challenging situations and give employees the opportunity to support activities that resonated with them.
We have clients in the health and safety sector and one of the other CSR activities we participate in is the Steps for Life walk. Organized by Threads of Life this walk raises funds for families who have been impacted by workplace accidents. This activity is closely linked to one of our clients. We enter a team in the walk every year and all of our staff members get together and participate in the walk. It’s a great opportunity to get the team together outside of the office and support a good cause.
We have also participated in CSR activities at client events. Everything from park clean ups to building bikes for underprivileged children.
If you are not already participating in CSR activities you should find something that connects to your company or organization and jump right in! It’s a great opportunity to strengthen your team, forge connections with the community and help people in need.
